Sandro de Souza alias “Black”, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. Born in Rio de Janeiro’s suburb, Sandro met the music from the age of fourteen in the classes of guitar and choral singing in his Church, where he set up his first band. Sandro was part of “Empolga as 9”, one of the biggest carnival bands in Rio, where he recorded and released the eponymous album by Biscoito fino. In 2012 he was invited to be a vocalist for the Brazilian Black Music Carnival Band "Estratégia" where he has performed several shows and 3 carnivals. Currently he is also the lead singer of Quizomba, one of the most lively and traditional carnival Band of Rio de Janeiro and heads the group Samba du Black, a samba group with renowned musicians from the Rio Samba Scene.
Marked by his versatility, he has already performed in venues such as Casa Rosa, Fundição Progresso, Circo Voador, among others. In 2014 he finished his first solo album, "Borogodó" released in Sergio Porto. This first authoral project brings in its essence the vision of a "new artist", not only of the music presented here, but of the whole. With a strong and remarkable presence through his thunderous voice, accompanied by the sweetness and sensitivity of a whispering in one’s ear, Sandro brings the influences of groove, samba and samba rock, which forged his musical personality with a dash of Refinement of Jazz and African rhythms.
